13.    The IJF has a new website called Judobase where you can watch individual fights on demand, shortly after the competition is over. Never has this been done before. There have been live streams which are later made available on demand. But not individual fights on demand almost immediately after the competition for each day is over.


14.    Putin loves judo so Russia will definitely put on a great show.


15.    Khaybulaev is making a comeback. It will be interesting to see if he can successfully add another world title to his list of achievements after nearly retiring.


16.    Korea sends team without Wang Ki Chun and Kim Jae Bum.


17.    Gamba has famously said his focus is on the Olympics. It'll be interesting to see how well (or not well) the Russians do at the World Championships given this fact.


18.    It's always interesting to see how well the home team does. Will Russia win many gold medals? Or will it strike out?


19.    With Riner being so dominant in the past few years, it'll be interesting to see if anyone can finally stand up to him.


20.    There's always a dark horse who wins the gold. The 2014 Chelyabinsk World Championships is bound to usher in a new star who was previously relatively unknown.

21.    Women's matches will be four minutes long. Will this mean they will fight more aggressively knowing their matches will not last as long as before? It's worth seeing the impact of such a rule change.
