World Ranking Leader U60kg Michel Augusto
Brazilian judoka Michel Natan Felix Augusto has rapidly emerged as one of the most promising athletes in the U60kg division. Despite his young age, Augusto has already climbed to the top of the IJF World Ranking, showing remarkable consistency against some of the toughest competition on the World Judo Tour.
Augusto’s rise has been built on steady progress through international events. One of his early international results came with a bronze medal at the Junior European Cup in Paks in 2022. From there, the Brazilian lightweight continued to develop his reputation, capturing gold at the Pan American Open in Bahia in 2023 and adding a bronze medal at the Oceania Open in Perth later that year.
In 2024 he strengthened his position in the continental scene by winning gold at the Pan Am Oceania Championships in Rio. His results on the IJF World Tour have also been impressive. Augusto claimed silver at the Grand Prix in Portugal in 2024 and followed that with a bronze medal at the Grand Prix Upper Austria in Linz in 2025.
Further podium finishes came with silver at the 2025 Grand Slam in Tbilisi and another silver at the Grand Prix in Guadalajara. He also captured gold at the 2025 Pan American Oceania Championships in Santiago.
With speed, confidence and regular podium finishes, Michel Augusto has become one of the athletes to watch in the fiercely competitive U60kg category.
