2013 IJF Tour in numbers
The 2013 the IJF Tour just finished with the Grand Prix in Jeju. There were a lot of good fights in this year, a lot of new judo stars but also new rules changes which will apply from 1 January 2014. Some judoka didn't succeed to defend their titles. Iliadis didn't couldn't hold his world title, Lucie Decosse (FRA) retired as well as Urska Zolnir of Slovenia who is now coach. Also Ole Bischof can't be seen anymore on the international mat.
Two friends were fighting in the world final -63kg: Yarden Gerbi of Israel and Clarisse Agbegnenou (FRA), Gerbi took her first world title. Naohisa Takato and Shohei Ono (JPN) were for sure the most atractive fighters of this 2013 season. World Champion 90kg Asley Gonzalez (CUB) spoke about bribery attempt in Rio, Majlinda Kelmendi wrote history at the World Championships in Rio by winning the gold for Kosovo.
Teddy Riner, what to say: the biggest judo star in this moment added another World title, but also sustained a shoulder surgery at the end of September.
Olympic medalist Van Snick was caught with cocaine at the World championships. Kayla Harrison told us her secret to the success "The best to more than the rest!". Also the historical move by the IJF, the Team competition at the World U21 Championships showed us great judo. Georgia was the winner in the men's competition while the Japanese girls took the women team title.
