Gévrise Emane

Gévrise Emane

Gévrise Emane is one of the most successful French judoka of her generation. The powerful U63kg fighter became world champion three times, winning gold in 2007, 2011 and again in 2015 at the age of 33. She also added a world bronze medal in 2013, confirming her longevity at the very highest level.

At the Olympic Games Emane claimed bronze in London in 2012, adding another major achievement to an already remarkable career. On the European stage she proved equally dominant, taking continental titles in 2006, 2007, 2011, 2012 and again in 2016 in Kazan.

For several years she stood at the top of the international rankings, holding the number one position in the IJF World Ranking U63kg between 2011 and 2013. Known for her strength, determination and powerful attacking style, Emane remained one of the key figures in women’s judo throughout the late 2000s and 2010s.

Her ability to stay competitive across multiple Olympic cycles made her a role model for many younger athletes in France and beyond.
