Tina Trstenjak
Tina Trstenjak has been one of Slovenia’s most successful judoka and a central figure in the golden generation of U63kg athletes from her country. Calm, technical and tactically sharp, she built a career defined by precision and consistency at the highest level.
Her crowning achievement came at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, where she captured the gold medal after a commanding performance throughout the day. Five years later in Tokyo, she proved her durability by reaching the Olympic final once again and taking silver. Two Olympic finals in consecutive cycles underlined her status among the elite.
Trstenjak became World Champion in 2015 in Astana and added further world medals with bronze in 2014 and 2018 and silver in Budapest in 2017. On the European stage she was equally dominant, winning continental titles in 2016, 2017 and 2021 and collecting a total of seven European Championship medals. She also claimed silver at the 2015 European Games.
On the IJF World Tour she amassed 39 World Cup medals including 18 victories, with Grand Slam gold in Paris, Abu Dhabi and Budapest and Grand Prix wins in Düsseldorf, Tunis and Zagreb.
After retiring from competition, Trstenjak remained active within the sport. She became IJF Referee Director on the IJF Executive Committee and works with the IJF Academy, educating coaches and examining judo teachers worldwide.
