Teddy Riner
Teddy Riner is widely regarded as the most successful judoka in history. The towering French heavyweight has dominated the sport for more than a decade and built a record that few athletes in any discipline can match.
Standing 2.04 metres tall, “Big Teddy” became a global star through an extraordinary run of victories. Between 2010 and 2020 he remained unbeaten for 154 consecutive contests, an almost unmatched streak in modern judo. His dominance at the World Championships is historic, with eleven world titles, more than any other judoka.
Riner is also a triple Olympic champion, winning gold in London 2012, Rio 2016 and Paris 2024. Earlier in his career he captured Olympic bronze medals in Beijing 2008 and Tokyo 2020. In addition to his individual success, he played a key role in France’s mixed team triumphs, winning Olympic team gold in 2021 and again in 2024.
His list of achievements also includes five European titles, two world junior titles and victory at the IJF World Masters in Doha in 2021. Riner has continued to perform at the highest level on the World Judo Tour, winning the Paris Grand Slam in both 2023 and 2024.
Competing for Paris Saint-Germain Judo, Riner remains one of the sport’s biggest icons and ambassadors worldwide.
